Here is 2007 Q3 (Siding Spring) again. The total exposure was longer than on my
March 23 image, but there are fewer exposures as I exposed for 60s subs on this
occasion (tracking the comet with Astro-Physics PulseGuide software), and the
run was curtailed by cloud.

The secondary condensation is less clear in this image than it was in my image
of a week earlier. I am not sure if it has really got more diffuse, or if my
first method of using 30s subs actually gave better resolution. Looks as if the
latter could be the case from the star images. Alternatively, seeing might have
been inferior on this occasion.

I imaged this comet, reported by Nick Howes on March 17, from images taken using the Faulkes Telescope North, to have a secondary condensation, on March 23.
My image, taken with a C-14 at prime focus, from darkest Edgware, also shows the secondary condensation on the tail side of the nucleus, and corresponds well to Nick's images. My image is a stack of 20 x 30 second exposures aligned on the comet using Nebulosity. It has had a dark frame applied but no flat field. It is given 50177740riginal size and has had a linear stretch applied in Photoshop, but no other processing.
The vague smudge to the left of the comet is nothing to do with it, but real, as it corresponds to something, maybe a very faint galaxy, on the POSS II plate.
Part of a much brighter galaxy, UGC 9837, just comes in to the extreme top left corner of the image.
